What does FSC stand for?
FSC means Forest Stewardship Council. The organization was formed in 1993 during a period of time that the World has recognized how much impact of forest exploitation would cast to the future. FSC’s main purpose is to manage the World’s forest. While FSC’s Certificate shows that an organization has a responsible standing in its consumption of input goods made from the forest.
Why is FSC important?
FSC’s officials have made a pledge to, “promote environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial and economically viable management of the world’s forests”. Upon dealing with environmental issues such as climate change, the conservation of trees is extremely important. Not only tree provides the basic needs for human to survive, being responsible with it can promotes a fair competition in business.
What does it take to get FSC certification?
In order to acquire this certificate, an organization has to voluntarily undergo audits from FSC International. The process checks if a company meets all of the standards in forest conservation laws, ensure safety and welfare to local communities, etc. The process is fairly straightforward and not every company will acquire it in the first time. However, it encourages organizations to make changes to their operations to meet all of the standards.
